A chat with Kendel Nicholson @kendelnicholsontattoo a tattoo artist inspired by vintage botanical illustrations created with printmaking techniques.

Kendel Nicholson is coming down from Manchester to guest at The Good Fight Tattoo, London. 17th - 19th March 2022.

“Hi, I’m Kendel, I'm 28 and have been tattooing for 5 years now! I grew up in Nottingham, but have been living in Manchester for nearly 10 years.

Since I was a kid, I was always pretty set on the idea I would go into fashion design but decided to do a total flip once I realised I actually hated making clothes and was way more drawn to the illustration side of it. I then went on to study Illustration at Manchester, where I spent most of my time in the printmaking room. Once I graduated I starting making my own prints and selling them on Etsy/at local print fairs. I then decided to pursue a tattoo apprenticeship.

I love tattooing anything nature related, mostly flowers, foliage, animals, insects and more, taking my inspiration from vintage botanical and scientific illustrations were originally made using printmaking techniques.”
